How to Fix Mixed Content Errors in BlogSpot Blogger

Since, blogger officially rolled out this feature for blogspot.com domains many people have enabled HTTPS for their blogs. However, they are facing multiple functionalities issues and the most common problem they are facing is of mixed content errors occasionally from their template, gadgets, or blog post content. Today, in this article, we will show you How to Fix mixed content errors in BlogSpot Blogger

What are Mixed Content Errors?

Mixed content errors occur when a web page is initially secured by SSL but it contains both secure HTTPS and non secure HTTP content (such as images, links, videos, scripts, style sheets). This browser error will cause degradation in your site performance, security issues and would affect the user experience of your blog.

In Blogger mixed content issues can be caused by the HTML content in:
  1. Template Source code
  2. Post and Page source code
  3. Layout gadget source code

How to Check your Blog for Mixed Content Errors?

  1. Open your browse (we recommend Google Chrome), visit your blog using HTTPS protocol i.e. https://<yoursite>.blogspot.com.

  2. Once your blog is loaded completely, go to Tools >> Developer >> Console or use this shortcut CTRL + SHIFT + J to open the JavaScript console.

  3. Now in the console look for mixed content errors similar to the one we have below.

"Mixed Content: The page at 'https://<your-blog>.blogspot.com/' was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure script 'http://<some-url>/script.js'. This request has been blocked; the content must be served over HTTPS."

"Mixed Content: The page at 'https://<your-blog>.blogspot.com/' was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure image 'http://<some-url>/image.jpg'. This content should also be served over HTTPS."

"Mixed Content: The page at 'https://<your-blog>.blogspot.com/' was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure URL 'http://<some-url>/webpage.html'. This content should also be served over HTTPS."

  4. Now make a list of unsecured URLs that you have encountered. You can visit many other pages on your Blog to get more mixed content errors.

Fix Mixed Content Errors on your Blogger Template:

It means that mixed content errors is appearing on multiple pages and is most probably caused by either your template or gadgets, follow below instructions to remove them.
  1. Go to Blogger >> Template >> Edit HTML >> and search for http://

  2. If you are able to find any http:// link replace it with https://

  3. Before saving, verify if each like is available over HTTPS by opening that linking into a new window or tab of your browser. If both HTTP and HTTPS links are giving you the same results, then you are good to click Save Template.

  4. Now go to Blogger >> Layout >> Edit each HTML/Javascript type gadget and replace all https:// links with http://. Verify if the https:// links are working correctly and then press Save.

Fix Mixed Content Errors on your Posts & Pages:

This means that mixed content errors are in the source code of one of your posts or pages that you need to edit from the blogger post editor.

  1. Go to Blogger Dashboard >> select any of your post or page and press Edit link.

  2. Now revert to the HTML Tab, look for http:// and change it to with https://

  3. Verify each HTTPS link by opening it in a new browser window to see if the content matches non HTTPS link. After the verification, click Update to save the post or page.

Update to Blogger Post Editor to Fix Mixed Content:

Blogger has announced on 19th April 2016, that they have an update to the Blogger post editor to help with mixed content. Which means you can fix mixed content in just one click on your posts and pages.
  1. Edit a post, revert to HTML Tab and press Update.

  2. If the editor detects any errors they will be shown above the editor, along with the option to fix the errors found.

Add product names, prices and pictures. You can use "More powerful options" to add more details to your product like category, description, color and etc (Adding more details to our products will be handy because we will later upload our product catalog to our blog). After adding your product, press "Save".

  2. Categories: This widget will display a complete list of categories of your store.
  3. Mini Cart: It will add a mini shopping cart to your site. Adding it in menu will assist users in checkouts.
  4. Search Box: It will help users in searching different products on your store.
Now you will be able to see embed codes of four different widgets that are listed above. Copy any of these codes and Paste the code on the page where you want the widget to appear. Save and refresh the page.
To Add product browser in blogger, copy the Product Browser embed code and go to Blogger.com >> Add a New Page. Now change to HTML mode and paste the code which you copied earlier. Name the page as "My Store" and press the Publish button.

That's it, now you can add more products to your store. Any product added to the product catalog would appear automatically in the product browser in your blog.

How Absolutely Anyone Can Make $25/hour With Spinning

This method still works really well, but the video is out of date and a lot of the calculations here are a little off. This is because with WordAi Version 2 it is now even quicker and even easier to create a high quality unique article (usually requiring no editing at all!)

I've noticed recently that most people who use spinners are only using them for SEO. Although spinning is great for SEO, there are many other ways to use spinning to make a lot of money.

With that in mind, I've decided to talk about one of those methods today. It's actually pretty simple to do and doesn't require any SEO, or really any expertise. All it requires is basic English skills and the willingness to actually put in the time. When I say $25/hour, I mean $25 per hour you devote completely to doing what I tell you. That might not be "get stupidly rich" money, but that is pretty damn good for a job that requires no special skills. And if you want "get stupidly rich" money, this will still work for you. Why? Because, as you'll see later in this post, you can pay other people to do this for $10/hour, sell their work for $25/hour, and keep the $15/hour profit for yourself without having to do any work!

So What is This Super Secret Thing I'm Doing?

That's the best part, there is nothing secretive about it at all! You are just a content writer. Now let me address all of the reasons you think this won't work and show you that you're wrong. I'll start with the most obvious one:

But Alex, Freelance Content Writers Do Not Make $25/hour!

You are right, and I'll do some basic math to prove it (and then tell you how you can cheat and tweak those numbers).
Freelance content writers generally charge per word and not per hour. A good writer can usually charge somewhere between $1.00 and $1.50 per 100 words and can probably write 750-1000 words per hour. That works out from anywhere to $7.50/hour to $15/hour. But that's not even including the time spent acquiring new writing clients. So how did I turn this $10/hour job into a $25/hour job?

I found a simple way to take somebody who writes 750 words per hour and turn them into somebody who writes 4,000 words per hour! And if you write 4,000 words per hour, and charge a measly $0.65 per 100 words, that works out to over $25/hour!

Typing 4,000 words per hour is typing over 1 word a second. You said this was something anybody could do!

You got me there. The real secret is not that being a content writer can make money. The secret is that you can be a content writer without having to write a single article for yourself. The two ways content purchasers judge content is readability (quality) and uniqueness. The first one is pretty easy to figure out (just read an article and see if it makes sense). The second one, uniqueness, is a lot harder for people to judge. In the end, all a user can do is check Copyscape and see if the article has any duplicates across the web. So you can just rewrite an existing article, and as long as it makes sense (both the grammar and the content), and passes Copyscape, you will have a happy buyer on the other end. Not only will the buyer think the article is unique, but Google will as well, and to be honest… since the article is rewritten, it is unique!

So here is how you rewrite an article at 1 word per second

You don't. When I do this (I only ever do guides like this if I have personally tested it myself first to make sure it works), I rewrite maybe 3% of the words in the article. I get WordAi to do all the rest! So, I find an article directory (just search "article directory" on Google and you'll find hundreds of them), search for a good article in that article directory, put that article into WordAi, and WordAi will do 99% of the rewriting for me.

Can I just use any spinner to do this?

You could, but you will end up regretting it later on. The issue with most other spinners, is they make mistakes so often that you end up having to rewrite the entire article anyways, correcting all of the mistakes that the spinner makes. Or you end up with so few synonyms that you'll have to rewrite 50% of the article yourself before it can pass Copyscape. WordAi's Turing Spinner (aptly named after the Turing Test it strives to beat) produces spintax that is so readable, you do not need to spend much time editing it up. In fact, since the Turing Spinner spins to a uniqueness that can usually pass Copyscape, I often make zero changes to the spintax before it is ready to be passed on as unique content. Don't believe me? Check out this video of me in action:

In that video I rewrote a 400 word article in about 5 minutes (the video ended at 4:30, but I did end up spending another 20 seconds after that doing a couple spot edits), and in the entire hour I spent working I rewrote 10 articles. I didn't sell the article in the video (I would never publicly out work done for a client), but for the entire hour I rewrote 4,500 words, which could easily be sold for $25-30. I am able to leverage the fact that the Turing Spinner generates human quality content and I sell this "free" content to legions of happy buyers. There is no other spinner in the world that can generate spintax that is this readable AND is unique enough that it can pass Copyscape right off the bat, so you will be wasting time and money if you use anything else.

Wait, where are these "legions of happy buyers" you talk about?

Free content is very valuable, but it is more valuable when you have people wanting to buy it. There are tons of places to sell content, and because you are writing content faster than all of your competitors, you can offer your content cheaper than anyone else. That makes it really easy to get people lining up to buy content. But enough talking, I'll just give you a couple sources where you can sell content with very little hassle, time investment, or overhead:

All four of these are great places to sell content; I've tried all four of them and have great success with each of them. And of course, if you are looking to scale, there are sources even better than that. I left out the best sources for readers to figure out for themselves… although if this article gets enough traction and enough people ask for it, I'll consider outting a couple of my gems :)

But the absolute best way to sell content, no matter which site you use, is to turn those initial customers into repeat buyers. I recently did a deal with an Indian content writing firm that writes 2,000,000 words/mo and they moved all of their writers to using WordAi. Now their content is sold for less, they have higher margins, and ironically, the quality of their content has gone up! So, once you get a longterm customer like that (even if they don't write that much), you can then spend all of your time writing content, and not have to waste any of your time searching for new customers.

So How Much Money Can the Average Person Really Make With This?

If you are willing to work and completely dedicate 35-40 hours per week for this, the average person should have no problem making over $45,000/year doing this. If you only want to work part time, you can probably earn half of that. And once you have a couple of dedicated content clients (all of the above "content sources" I listed above are great places to find long term content buyers) you can probably end up making even more. And at that point, you can just pay somebody else to use WordAi for you while you spend your day on the beach (or wherever you want to be) collecting your check while doing absolutely nothing!
